The village of Bardos is in the Pays Basque,  a beautiful region in the sunny south west of France, offering a wonderful range of activities and places to visit.

Discover the region's towns and villages including the internationally renowned Biarritz which is only 20 minutes away and has sandy beaches, chic shopping and al fresco dining.  Closer still is the medieval town of Bayonne, the capital of the region and  famous for it's museums and restored Gothic cathedral.

The outdoor cafes in the charming town square of St Jean de Luz are perfect for enjoying a coffee under the shady trees
and watching the local artists paint and display their artwork. Just across the bay in Ciboure is the 19th century birthplace of the famous composer Maurice Ravel.

The magnificent coastal city of San Sebastian is only a 40 minute drive away and, once there, you can shop, enjoy the wonderful tapas bars and spend the afternoon on the beach in the city's sandy bay.

Bilbao is 90 minutes away and worth a day trip just to experience the famous Guggenheim museum.

There are also the most beautiful chateaux and  basque villages to explore in the quiet countryside surrounding La Pomme Perdue. La Bastide Clairence, classed as "one of the most beautiful villages in France " is only 5 minutes away and has a local farmer's market in the village square every friday evening through the summer months.

The Basque region has a strong cultural identity which can be discovered through its history, dance, music and of course it's gastronomy.
There are superb restaurants and bodegas in the heart of Bayonne next to the Nive river and authentic seafood restaurants in the  picturesque old fishing ports all along the coastline. The region's specialities include the red peppers of Espelette, ewes cheese ( fromage de brebis) from St Jean Pied de Port, macarons from St Jean de Luz and  Gateaux Basque.  Bayonne is famous for both it's ham and chocolate making tradition.

This area of the Pays Basque is also renowned for birdwatching with a large variety of species to be seen.
